§ 231. Expenses of police officer or peace officer injured in line of\nduty. The board of supervisors may, in its discretion, audit and pay the\nreasonable medical and hospital expenses of any police officer or peace\nofficer of the county injured in the line of duty while executing a\ncriminal process for which the county is liable for payment of the fees\nand for which he is not compensated under the provisions of the workers'\ncompensation law. The claim shall be presented within one year from the\ndate of the injury and shall be itemized and verified or certified.\n
