§ 324. Penalty for falling trees. If any person shall cut down any\ntree on land not occupied by him, so that it shall fall into any\nhighway, river or stream, unless by the order and consent of the\noccupant, the person so offending shall forfeit to such occupant the sum\nof one dollar for every tree so fallen and the like sum for every day\nthe same shall remain in the highway, river or stream.\n
