N.Y. Indian Law § 18

§ 18. Fire corporations. Notwithstanding any other provisions of law,\nthe members of the Seneca Nation of Indians may establish fire\ncorporations to provide fire protection and related services upon the\nSeneca Indian reservations, or any part thereof, subject to the approval\nof the Council of the Seneca Nation of Indians. Such corporations shall\nbe formed pursuant to the applicable provisions of the Membership\nCorporation Law, provided, however, that the consent of such Seneca\nCouncil shall constitute the consent required by section 11.4 thereof.\nAny such fire corporation shall have powers equivalent to those provided\nby law with respect to like fire corporations or departments operating\noutside such Seneca reservations, including without limitation, the\nright to enter into contracts for the provision of fire protection\nservices outside the Seneca reservation, and its members and employees\nshall be entitled to all of the benefits afforded under New York Law for\npersons engaged in providing fire protection services.\n
