N.Y. Retire. & Soc. Sec. Law § 1310

§ 1310. Definitions. The following words and phrases as used in this\narticle shall have the following meanings unless a different meaning is\nplainly required by the context:\n a. "Retirement system" shall mean the New York state and local\nemployees' retirement system and the New York state teachers' retirement\nsystem.\n b. "Eligible employee", subject to the limitations of section thirteen\nhundred twelve of this article, shall mean a member of a retirement\nsystem who first became a member of such system on or after April first,\ntwo thousand twelve who is identified as eligible to receive the benefit\nenhancements provided for in this article upon election by the state of\nNew York pursuant to section thirteen hundred eleven of this article.\n
