§ 22-c. Election and term of assessors in the town of Southampton,\ncounty of Suffolk. Notwithstanding the provisions of any general,\nspecial or local law, the town board of the town of Southampton, county\nof Suffolk, may by resolution subject to a permissive referendum, direct\nthat at the first biennial town election held after this act takes\neffect, there shall be elected three town assessors for a term of four\nyears and two town assessors for a term of two years each to begin on\nthe first day of January next succeeding such election. If no referendum\nbe demanded or if a proposition therefor be adopted by referendum, the\nassessors of such town shall be elected at such election in the manner\nset forth herein. Thereafter, each assessor shall be elected for a four\nyear term.\n
