Teacher assignment based on student best interests

Effective: September 30, 2025; Latest Legislation: House Bill 96 - 136th General Assembly

(A) The superintendent of each school district shall assign teachers to positions based on the best interests of the students enrolled in the district. In assigning, reassigning, or transferring a teacher, whether voluntary or involuntary on the part of the teacher, the superintendent shall not use seniority or continuing contract status as the primary factor in determining the teacher's assignment.

(B) Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in section 4117.10 of the Revised Code, the requirements of this section prevail over any conflicting provisions of agreements between employee organizations and public employers entered into on or after the effective date of this section.
