Ohio Rev. Code Ann. § 5103.034

Making training programs available

Effective: January 1, 2025; Latest Legislation: House Bill 33 - 135th General Assembly

(A) Private child placing agencies and private noncustodial agencies operating a preplacement or continuing training program approved by the department of children and youth under section 5103.038 of the Revised Code shall make the program available to a prospective foster caregiver or foster caregiver without regard to the type of recommending agency from which the prospective foster caregiver or foster caregiver seeks a recommendation.

(B) A private child placing agency or private noncustodial agency operating a preplacement or continuing training program approved by the department of children and youth under section 5103.038 of the Revised Code may condition the enrollment of a prospective foster caregiver or foster caregiver in the program on either or both of the following:

(1) Availability of space in the training program;

(2) Payment of an instruction or registration fee, if any, by the prospective foster caregiver or foster caregiver's recommending agency.

(C) A private child placing agency or private noncustodial agency operating a preplacement or continuing training program approved by the department of children and youth under section 5103.038 of the Revised Code may contract with a person or governmental entity to administer the program.
