Ohio Rev. Code Ann. § 5180.11

[Former R.C. 3701.951, amended and renumbered by H.B. 33, 135th General Assembly, effective 1/1/2025] Infant mortality, preterm birth, and stillbirth rates

(A) As used in this section:

(1) "Preliminary infant mortality and preterm birth rates" means infant mortality and preterm birth rates that are derived from vital records as defined in section 3705.01 of the Revised Code, are not considered finalized by the department of health, and are subject to modification as additional birth and death data are received by the department and added to vital records.

(2) "Stillbirth" has the same meaning as in section 5180.12 of the Revised Code.

(B) Each calendar quarter, the department of children and youth shall determine the state's preliminary infant mortality and preterm birth rates, as well as the stillbirth rate, delineated by race and ethnic group. The rates shall be determined using a simple rolling average. The department shall publish the rates in a quarterly report, which shall also include a description of the data sources and methodology used to determine the rates. The department shall make each report available on its internet web site not later than five business days after the rates are determined.
