Cooperation with commissions and state agencies - Interpreter services

A. The Commission for Rehabilitation Services is hereby directed, in carrying out its functions, to cooperate with the appropriate commissions and state agencies having authority related to the problems of deaf and hard-of-hearing persons. These agencies are likewise directed to cooperate with the Commission for Rehabilitation Services in carrying out its functions. B. The State Department of Rehabilitation Services shall establish and operate a program to provide interpreter services to deaf and hard-of-hearing citizens of the state, under rules promulgated by the Commission for Rehabilitation Services. C. The State Department of Rehabilitation Services shall establish policy and procedures for the evaluation and certification of interpreters for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. The Department may require a nominal fee to recoup costs incurred in testing and certifying such interpreters.
