R.I. Gen. Laws § 23-24.11-2

Definitions

Known as the Comprehensive Children’s Jewelry Safety Act

The act spans §§ 23-24.11-1 to 23-24.11-4 (4 sections).

(a) “Children’s jewelry” means jewelry designed or intended primarily for use by children twelve (12) years of age or younger to be worn as an item of personal ornamentation, and does not include:

(1) Toys or other products intended for use when a child plays;

(2) Accessories;

(3) Apparel;

(4) Footwear; or

(5) Any other product whose purpose is primarily functional and not ornamental.

(b) “ASTM F 2923-11” means the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) International Standard Specification for Consumer Product Safety for Children’s Jewelry in effect on January 1, 2012.
