R.I. Gen. Laws § 31-47-9.1

Penalties — Illegal evidence of financial security

Known as the Motor Vehicle Reparation Act

The act spans §§ 31-47-1 to 31-47-9.1 (27 sections).

(a) No person shall knowingly make, sell or otherwise make available any invalid or counterfeit evidence of financial security as defined in this chapter. No person shall alter any invalid evidence of financial security to make it appear valid.

(b) Any person convicted of a violation of this section shall be guilty of a felony and shall be punished by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars ($500), nor more than three thousand dollars ($3,000), or imprisonment of not more than one year, or both.
