R.I. Gen. Laws § 4-1-4

Abandonment of infirm animals

If any maimed, sick, infirm, or disabled animal is abandoned to die, by any owner or person having charge of that animal, that person shall, for each offense, be punished in the manner provided in § 4-1-2.
