Tenn. Code Ann. § 2-11-104

Election of members

Known as the Election Code

(1) All members shall be elected for a term of four (4) years, beginning on the first Monday in May 1979.

(2) The election of the members of the state election commission shall be by joint resolution of both houses of the general assembly. The election is to take place in the joint session of both houses in which each member of the general assembly shall be entitled to one (1) vote.

(3) Elections shall be held on any date fixed by joint resolution, but shall be held prior to the fourth Monday in March of the year of the election.

(4) Nomination of members shall be in accordance with § 2-11-103.
