Tenn. Code Ann. § 3-2-112

Denomination of highways and public structures, facilities or property — Legislative action

Acts 1991, ch. 17, § 1.

(1) Neither the senate nor the house of representatives shall take formal action to give a name to or to rename any road, highway, interstate highway, bridge, overpass or other public structure, facility or property unless such action shall be accomplished through enactment of legislation or adoption of a joint resolution.

(2) Any such action taken in violation of this section shall be void and shall have no effect.
