(1) When any eligible employee in an optional retirement program retires with retirement credit in the retirement system, the employee's retirement allowance from the retirement system shall be computed and paid in accordance with chapters 34 – 37 of this title.
(2) Employees who elect to participate under the optional retirement program shall be limited to the benefits of such optional retirement program, upon and after retirement.
