Tenn. Code Ann. § 8-36-111

Exemption of benefits from execution, attachment, garnishment and assignment

All retirement allowances and other benefits accrued or accruing to any person under chapters 34-37 of this title, the accumulated contributions of members and the cash and assets in the funds created under chapters 34-37 of this title shall not be subject to execution, attachment, garnishment, or other process whatsoever, nor shall any assignment thereof be enforceable in any court.
