PROGRAMS TO ENSURE ONE-TIME INTENSIVE EDUCATIONAL SUPPORTS FOR OVERCOMING COVID-19 PANDEMIC IMPACT

(a) From state discretionary funds under Section 313(e), Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (Div. M, Pub. L. No. 116-260, reprinted in note, 20 U.S.C. Section 3401) and Section 2001(f), American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (Pub. L. No. 117-2, reprinted in note, 20 U.S.C. Section 3401) and other funds appropriated, the agency shall establish programs that assist school districts and open-enrollment charter schools in implementing intensive supports to ensure students perform at grade level and graduate demonstrating college, career, or military readiness. Programs established under this section must include:

(1) expanding learning options for:

(A) Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) programs in participating school districts under Subchapter N, Chapter 29;

(B) the Texas Regional Pathways Network; and

(C) the Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant Program under Chapter 134;

(2) supplemental instructional supports, including tutoring; and

(3) COVID-19 learning acceleration supports, including:

(A) innovation in curriculum and instruction;

(B) diagnosing student mastery;

(C) extended instructional time; and

(D) supports for teachers.

(b) The agency may take actions as necessary in implementing intensive supports under Subsection (a), including providing grants to school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and regional education service centers.
