(a) The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System shall govern, operate, manage, and control The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler and the land, buildings, facilities, equipment, supplies, improvements, and other property comprising the center in the manner authorized by law for the governance, management, and control of other component institutions of The University of Texas System.

(b) The board of regents may use the center as a teaching hospital.
