Tex. Elec. Code § 13.044

PURPORTEDLY ACTING AS VOLUNTEER DEPUTY REGISTRAR

(a) A person commits an offense if the person purports to act as a volunteer deputy registrar when the person does not have an effective appointment as a volunteer deputy registrar.

(b) An offense under this section is a Class C misdemeanor.
