(a) A defendant has the right of appeal from a judgment of conviction in the municipal court of record under the rules prescribed by this subchapter. The state has the right of appeal as provided by Article 44.01, Code of Criminal Procedure. The El Paso Municipal Court of Appeals has jurisdiction over appeals from the municipal courts of record, and all appeals from convictions in the municipal court of record must be prosecuted in the appellate court, the court of appeals, or the court of criminal appeals by the city attorney or an assistant city attorney.

(b) Section 30.00014 does not apply to this subchapter.
