CONFLICT OF INTEREST; CRIMINAL PENALTY

(a) A district commissioner, engineer, or employee, personally or as an agent for another person, may not benefit directly or indirectly from a sale, purchase, or contract entered into by the board.

(b) A person commits an offense if the person violates this section. An offense under this subsection is a misdemeanor punishable by:

(1) a fine not to exceed $1,000;

(2) confinement in the county jail for not less than six months or more than one year; or

(3) both the fine and confinement.
