Utah Code § 58-91-305

Identification of constables -- Uniform requirements

Renumbered and Amended by Chapter 130, 2026 General Session

(1) An individual licensed as a constable shall:

(a) carry a copy of the individual's license on the individual's person at all times while acting as a constable; and

(b) display the license upon the request of a peace officer, a representative of the division, or a member of the public.

(2) While performing a duty within the scope of practice of a constable, as described in Section 58-91-301, a constable shall prominently display a visible form of credentials and identification identifying:

(a) the individual as a constable;

(b) the individual's name; and

(c) the governmental contracting entity for which the constable is acting, if applicable.

(3) If a constable serves process, the constable shall:

(a) verbally communicate to the person being served that the constable is a constable; and

(b) print on the first page of each document served:

(i) the constable's name and identification as a constable;

(ii) the county for which the constable is appointed; and

(iii) a business phone number for the constable.

(4) If a constable wears a uniform, the uniform shall be clearly marked with the word "constable" on the uniform shirt and, if applicable, the jacket.
