If federal law prohibits the acquisition of lands determined by the secretary to be necessary for transportation purposes unless replacement lands are provided, the department may acquire by gift, devise, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION 85.0623 purchase or condemnation any lands or interests in lands necessary to satisfy the replacement requirement.
