Junior Deputy Sheriff Act

• 55 ILCS 115/1The county board of each county may appropriate not more than $10,000 per annum for the use by the county sheriff in establishing and maintaining a junior deputy sheriff program for children from 10 to 16 years of age
• 55 ILCS 115/2Before such appropriation is approved, the sheriff must present to the county board his outline of how the junior deputy sheriff program will operate
• 55 ILCS 115/3At least once each month, the sheriff shall hold meetings of the junior deputy sheriff program at such places in the county as he deems necessary
• 55 ILCS 115/4Identification cards, in a form prepared or approved by the county sheriff, shall be presented to all children who attend these meetings
• 55 ILCS 115/5The county sheriff may establish programs of awards for attendance, participation and achievement in order to encourage children to actively participate in the junior deputy sheriff program
