¶2I agree with the majority that there was no basis on which the trial court could properly strike the judgment. I also agree that appellant failed to allege a defense sufficient to warrant an opening of the judgment. Under these circumstances, I find it unnecessary to determine whether appellant’s delay in filing a petition to open the judgment was adequately explained by his absence from the country.
