Itis said that every lessee for life or years, although it be but of a small house and land, is called “farmer.” This word implies no mystery, except it be that of husbandman, Cunningham; Cowell.

A husbandman or agriculturist; one who cultivates a farm, whether the land be public revenues, taxes, excise, etc,, for a certain commission or percentage; as a farmer of the revenues.
