Black's Law Dictionary
Lat A buyer or purchaser. Used in the maxim "caveat emptor," let the buyer beware; i. e., the buyer of an articie must be on his guard and take the risks of his purchase. Emptor emit quam minimo potest, venditor vendit quam maximo potest. The buyer purchases for the lowest price he can; the seller sells for the highest price he can.
