A Law Dictionary and Glossary
Lat. A purchaser. Emptor emit quam minimo potest, venditor vendit quam maximo potest: the buyer purchases for the lowest price he can, the seller sells for the highest price he can. Emptor tenetur venditori ad pretium, et venditor emptori, e converso, ad ipsam rem tradendam: the buyer is bound to the seller for the price, and the seller, e converso, to the buyer, to deliver the thing sold.
See Caveat emptor.
In old English law
