In Ecclesiastical Law. A peculiar manner of tithing, arising from Immemorial usage, and differing from To be ft good modus, the custom must be— first, certain and Invariable; second, beneficial to the person; third, a custom to pay something different from the thing compounded for; fourth, of the same species; fifth, the thing substituted must be in its nature as durable as the tithes themselves; sii Dth, it must not be too large; that would be a rank rhodus.
