In practice

Endorsement.

In England, where a warrant of a justice of the peace in one county is to be executed in another, it must first be endorsed by the justice in such other county, which is termed backing the warrant.

4BI. Com. 291.

A similar practice exists in some of the United States, though the term backing is rarely used.
