The Cyclopedic Law Dictionary
The increase arising to the crown's revenues from the suppression of monasteries and religious houses, and the appropriation of their lands and revenues. A court erected by Henry VIII., which was invested with the power of determining suits and controversies relating to monasteries and abbey lands. The court was dissolved in the reign of Mary; but the office of augmentations remained long after.
