Laws made by neighbors elected by common consent in the birlaw courts. Skene de Verb. Sign. Laws made by husbandmen, etc., concerning neighborhood {rusticorum leges). Spelman, voc. "Bellagines," considers this word essentially the same with "by-laws" (q. v.)
