The Cyclopedic Law Dictionary

A form of mortgage in use in Missouri and some other states, and in the_ District of Columbia. A deed is made in trust with a power of sale, and the power is exercised for the mortgagee's benefit. Similar deeds are frequently made by railroad companies or other corporations to secure bond issues where of necessity the creditors secured are very numerous.
