Forwarder

One wlio receives and forwards goods, taking upon himself the expenses of transportation, for which he receives a compensation from the owners, having no concern in the vessels or wagons by which they are transported, and no interest in the freight, and not being deemed a common Garrier, but a mere Warehouseman and agent. A person who receives and transports merchandise at his own expense of time and money, in consideration of a compensation paid him by the owner or consignee; and who has no concern in the means of transportation, nor any interest in the freight; a " forwarding merchant." i He is a warehouseman and agent for a compensation to forward goods.^ An agreement " to forward " goods may still amoimt to a contract for carrying. ^ See Carrier, Common.
