According to rule; as distinguished from that which violates the rule or follows no rule. According to rule; as opposed to that which constitutes an exception to the rule or is not within the rule. And this may be in two senses: that of according to rule, in distinction from contrai-y to or regardless of rule, in which sense it is opposed to ii Tegular; and according to rule, in distinction from exceptional, or not subject to the general rule, in which sense it is opposed to special.
