Barboursville is famous for being the birthplace of renowned American military commander and President Zachary Taylor. The ruins of his home are now on land owned by one of the Piedmont region's more popular wineries, Barboursville Vineyards. The Albemarle County portion of Barboursville is part of the Charlottesville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community lies on VA 20.
