A civil right is an enforceable right or privilege, which if interfered with by another gives rise to an action for injury. Examples of civil rights are freedom of speech, press, and assembly; the right to vote; freedom from involuntary servitude; and the right to equality in public places. Discrimination occurs when the civil rights of an individual are denied or interfered with because of their membership in a particular group or class. Statutes have been enacted to prevent discrimination based on race, sex, religion, age, previous condition of servitude, physical limitation, national origin, and in some instances sexual preference. Grovertown (also Grover Town or Grovestown) is an unincorporated community in southeastern Oregon Township, Starke County, Indiana, United States. It lies along State Road 23 northeast of the city of Knox, the county seat of Starke County. Its elevation is 725 feet (221 m), and it is located at 41°22′30″N 86°30′17″W / 41.375°N 86.50472°W / 41.375; -86.50472 (41.3750434, -86.5047339). Although Grovertown is unincorporated, it has a post office, with the ZIP code of 46531. Grovertown is the birthplace of country-music songwriter Jimmy Oakenshire.
