Also located just a half mile west of Putnamville is the Putnamville Correctional Facility, also known as "the state farm". One interesting fact about Putnamville: not only did Abraham Lincoln come through on his way to Springfield, Illinois on the old national trail (now US 40), he stayed the night in a small hotel, which is still there today, located just a few blocks behind the post office.
