Dysart is a small town located in Dean Township, Cambria County, Pennsylvania. It lies along the railroad that runs parallel to the Clearfield Creek between Ashville and Frugality. The town originated around the extraction of timber and when it was exhausted, bituminous coal. It was probably named after a man involved in financing those operations. Two books that chronicle the early history of Cambria County are: History of Cambria County Pennsylvania, Volumes I, II, and III by Henry Wilson Storey History of Cambria County Pennsylvania, Volumes I and II by John E.
