A contingent fee is when an attorney charges dependent upon a successful outcome in the case. It is often agreed to be a percentage of the total recovery to the client. Such fee arrangements are often used in negligence cases and other civil actions but not for criminal defense or divorce actions.

It is home to a post office, with zip code 37810. Mohawk is home to McDonald Elementary School, a Greene County public school that includes kindergarten through grade 8. The school was originally McDonald High School, built in 1919 on 6 acres (24,000 m) of land donated by Alex Ailshe. Its namesake was Earnest McDonald, a wealthy bachelor who donated money to build the school. The original building was demolished in 1957, and replaced by the brick building in use today. McDonald High School was dissolved after the 1966-67 school year, when the school was converted to an elementary school.
