In a criminal case, the state, through a prosecutor, initiates the suit, while in a civil case the victim brings the suit. Persons convicted of a crime may be incarcerated, fined, or both. Ozark is a city in and the county seat of Dale County, Alabama, United States. In 1990 the city population was 12,922. As of the 2000 census, the population of the city was 15,119. Ozark along with the city of Enterprise, are principal cities of the Enterprise–Ozark Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Dale and Coffee counties. Fort Rucker, the primary flight training base for Army Aviation, abuts Ozark.
