In a criminal case, the state, through a prosecutor, initiates the suit, while in a civil case the victim brings the suit. Persons convicted of a crime may be incarcerated, fined, or both. Stonewall is a town in northern De Soto Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,668 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Shreveport–Bossier City Metropolitan Statistical Area. North De Soto High School and the Garland Scout Ranch of the Boy Scouts of America are located in Stonewall.
