In a criminal case, the state, through a prosecutor, initiates the suit, while in a civil case the victim brings the suit. Persons convicted of a crime may be incarcerated, fined, or both. Middle Brook is an unincorporated community on the Iron County/St. Francois County line in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is about six miles north of Ironton, four miles east of Belleview, and seven miles southeast of Belgrade and Caledonia.
