In a criminal case, the state, through a prosecutor, initiates the suit, while in a civil case the victim brings the suit. Persons convicted of a crime may be incarcerated, fined, or both. Criminal defense attorneys represent clients who have been accused of committing a crime, and defend their rights at each stage of a misdemeanor or felony case -- from an arrest to an appeal after conviction. Wycombe is an unincorporated community in Wrightstown Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded in the 1890s when the Northeast Pennsylvania Railroad opened a line through the county, it was called "Lingohocken" (the traditional Indian name of the area) by local residents, but the post office was named "Wycombe" to prevent confusion with the post office in Wingohocken. Much of the community is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
