After World War I, many wealthy Buffalo families built their summer estates there, including one called "Graycliff" designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for the family of Darwin Martin, an executive in the highly successful Larkin Soap Company. A recent restoration project has restored the house to its original condition. Also at Derby is the historic First Church of Evans Complex.
