Saxtons River is an incorporated village in the town of Rockingham in Windham County, Vermont, United States. The population was 519 at the 2000 census. For over a hundred years, Saxtons River has been the home of Vermont Academy, an independent secondary school. It includes part or all of the Saxtons River Village Historic District, which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It is roughly bounded by Burk Hill and Belleview Roads, Oak Street, the Saxtons River, and Westminster West Road, encompassing nearly the entire village except for peripheral mid-20th century subdivisions. The district comprises 133 contributing and 22 non-contributing buildings showcasing Greek Revival, Italianate, and Queen Anne architectural styles.
