Particularly notable historic buildings on the Pendleton town square include Farmer's Hall and Hunter's Store. The latter is currently the headquarters of the Pendleton District Historical, Recreational and Tourism Commission. Near Pendleton are the historic plantation homes Ashtabula and Woodburn.
