Sunland Park is a city in Doña Ana County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 13,309 at the 2000 census. Though it lies directly across from El Paso, Texas, being in Doña Ana County makes it instead a part of the Las Cruces Metropolitan Statistical Area, some 30 miles to the north. The city is at the foot of Mount Cristo Rey, next to the Rio Grande, and is named for Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino. The location was formerly called Anapra, New Mexico. The city is along the United States-Mexico border and is bordered to the south by Puerto de Anapra, Chihuahua, Mexico.
