It is the nearest location to Lemhi Pass of the Lolo Trail over the Bitterroot Mountains. Lemhi Pass is a National Historic Landmark. Sacagawea, the Shoshoni woman who guided the Lewis and Clark Expedition was born near Tendoy. It is located on State Highway 28 and is identifiable in Google maps.
