Evansville is a city in the the southwestern portion of the U.S. state of Indiana, the third-largest city in Indiana after Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. The largest city in Southern Indiana, the city had a total population of 121,582, and a metropolitan population of 342,815 as of the 2000 census. In 2008 it was voted the best city in the country in which "to live, work, and play" by the readers of Kiplinger, and in 2009 the 11th best.
